Bungie’s Marathon is still set to launch by March 2026, according to Sony.
The update came during Sony’s latest earnings Q&A. An investor asked if the game was still on track or at risk of being cancelled. Chief financial officer Lin Tao confirmed the release window remains the end of this fiscal year, which closes on 31 March 2026.

“We are now fixing the problems. So we believe this launch will happen,” Tao said. “If this launch is canceled, we need to do a revision of the valuation. However, as of now, this is not expected.”
The game faced delays after a poor reception to its reveal and playtests. Issues escalated with a plagiarism accusation aimed at a concept artist, which Bungie denied.
In a statement on the delay, Bungie said player feedback had pushed them to focus on “survival under pressure, mystery and lore, raid-like endgame challenges, and genre-defining FPS combat.”

Despite the problems, Bungie appears determined to ship Marathon. Whether the final product will win players over remains an open question.
