Hell is Us wants players to get lost, literally. In its latest trailer, Rogue Factor breaks down how dungeons work. No map. No quest log. No markers. Just exploration, puzzles, and combat.
Creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête narrates the trailer. “There’s no map, no quest markers, and no hand-holding,” he says. “Just organic exploration asking you to trust your senses.”
Every dungeon is different in Hell is Us
In a PlayStation Blog interview, Jacques-Belletête explains more. Each dungeon is built around a theme. Some are heavy on puzzles. Others focus on combat or environment-based challenges.
One dungeon in the trailer features water level mechanics. Another ties directly into the game’s story. You’ll need to pay attention to lore to solve some puzzles.

He said;
“One of our themes is ‘history always repeats itself, what you uncover from the past reflects what’s happening now.”
At 1:45 in the trailer, he points to a rocky hill. “See what’s there,” he says. “Imagine how many things it represents.” No answers, just clues.

Hell is Us pushes players to observe and think. No hints. No shortcuts.
It launches 4 September 2025 on PS5, Xbox, and PC.
