Grand Theft Auto VI remains one of the most anticipated games of the year, with a lot riding on its success for Take-Two Interactive’s Fiscal Year 2027. Despite the hype, Rockstar’s open-world title isn’t yet content complete.
According to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, the November 19, 2026, GTA VI release feels “a little bit more real than Fall 2025 did,” even if no one at Rockstar can guarantee it will launch on that date. “They’re still finishing things up, finalising levels, missions, seeing what’s going to make it into the game,” Schreier said on the Button Mash podcast.

Rockstar pushes Grand Theft Auto VI to November 2026 – perfection takes time
Fans panicked when they heard the news, but Schreier reassured them that past delays, like those for Red Dead Redemption 2, don’t necessarily signal a huge setback. Even if there’s another slip, Take-Two would likely aim to release within a few months to hit fiscal targets.
Leaks and recent Rockstar staff changes hint at some of GTA VI’s features: a six-star wanted system, dual protagonists, underwater exploration, NPC reactions to weapons, weight mechanics, and even a Dead-Eye-like ability for Jason. Other rumours suggest detailed item detection and searching mechanics inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2.

While nothing is confirmed, these hints show GTA VI could be a major step forward for the series, combining classic chaos with more advanced gameplay systems, and possibly even MMO-like mechanics in the future.
