Grounded 2 is out now in early access on Steam and Xbox through Game Preview. It’s also on Xbox Game Pass. The sequel was revealed last month at Xbox’s Summer Game Fest 2025 showcase and is already playable.
The biggest upgrade is the new omni-tool, which replaces the axe, shovel, and hammer. No more wasting inventory slots on basic tools.
You can also raise and ride ants or spiders. They move faster, carry more, and help you cover ground quickly. Only two mounts are available at launch, with more likely to be added later during early access.
Grounded 2 is still grindy, but better where it counts
Grounded 2 still leans into grinding and progression walls, and it doesn’t always explain things well. But the new systems and mounts make exploring more manageable.
To mark the launch, Xbox is giving away a Red Ant plush big enough to sit on, just like in the game.
