Amazon’s God of War series is moving forward, but it won’t be a direct copy of the 2018 game.
At Comic-Con, showrunner Ronald D. Moore said the team is adapting the story, not remaking it. “It’s an adaptation-slash-interpretation,” he told Collider. “We want to keep the story. We want to keep the characters and the spirit of it.”
Moore said the God of War world is packed with ideas to explore. “There’s a lot here we can play with,” he added.

Cory Barlog is helping shape the show
Game director Cory Barlog is heavily involved. Moore praised his deep knowledge of the series.
“Cory can tell you the whole thing in every possible way, all the mythology, how it connects, what the puzzles were, why they did this, and what that artifact did,” Moore said.
Barlog’s input is helping the team stay true to the games while making changes for TV.

Amazon’s got more game shows coming
Amazon’s building a full slate of game adaptations. Fallout is getting a second season. Wolfenstein, Mass Effect, and Warhammer 40K shows are in the works too.
The God of War series could run for two seasons.
The last game, Ragnarök, wrapped up Kratos’ Norse arc in 2022. Sony Santa Monica is now working on its next project, which could be another reboot.

Kratos is coming to TV. But it won’t be the same story you played.
