Ghost of Yōtei has made a strong debut in the United Kingdom, landing straight at number one in the weekly physical sales chart. The new PlayStation exclusive from Sucker Punch Productions managed to outpace EA Sports FC 26 in its second week, no small feat considering how massive football games are in the UK.
According to former GamesIndustry.biz editor-in-chief Chris Dring, the launch wasn’t without a few caveats. Physical sales are reportedly down around 40% compared to Ghost of Tsushima. But that drop makes sense when you look at the bigger picture.

Back in 2020, Ghost of Tsushima released during the height of the pandemic, when most people were at home playing games, and it arrived near the end of the PlayStation 4’s life. The console’s install base was about 20 million units larger than the PS5’s current one. Plus, digital sales have grown massively since then, so we’ll need to wait for full data before calling it.
As for what’s next, Sucker Punch hasn’t announced any Ghost of Yotei DLC yet. Fans might remember that Iki Island, Tsushima’s only expansion, was revealed well after launch. What we do know is that the Legends co-op mode is coming in 2026, and a PC version is likely on the horizon, possibly launching alongside Legends with cross-play support.

For now, though, Ghost of Yōtei sits comfortably at the top – a promising start for one of PlayStation’s biggest new exclusives.
