FromSoftware might drop a new game in 2026 and it could be tied to Dark Souls or Armored Core

FromSoftware Games

FromSoftware isn’t slowing down. Fresh off Elden Ring: Nightreign, the Souls masterminds are already deep into an unannounced multiplatform project and it might be coming as soon as 2026.

The report, which surfaced via MP1st, says the Japanese studio has multiple irons in the fire. That includes ongoing work on Nightreign updates, the upcoming Switch 2 title The Duskbloods, and the biggest mystery of them all, a secret project codenamed “FMC”.

What is “FMC”?

That codename doesn’t give much away, but fans have noticed a trend: FromSoftware projects with “F” codenames have typically been tied to the Dark Souls or Armored Core franchises. So, naturally, speculation is heating up.

Could this be a return to Dark Souls? Series creator and studio head Hidetaka Miyazaki once said the series was done but if FMC is real and in the late stages of development, we might be looking at a spin-off, or even a remaster. With Dark Souls I and II already remastered, that leaves Dark Souls III as the likely candidate if they’re brushing up old work.

Then again, this could be something fresh in the Armored Core vein, especially with the series back in the spotlight after Armored Core VI’s success.

What else is cooking?

While FMC steals the headlines, FromSoftware isn’t ignoring its other projects. Elden Ring: Nightreign, the studio’s new co-op roguelite, is out now and already earning praise for blending classic Soulslike design with multiplayer chaos. Meanwhile, The Duskbloods, a mystery project tied to Nintendo’s Switch 2 remains under wraps.

If FMC is real and stays on track, it could be on your screen sometime next year. Until then, all eyes are on FromSoftware to see just how much more they can squeeze into their packed dev schedule.
