Larian Studios has officially lifted the curtain on its next big role-playing game, Divinity. The announcement was made during The Game Awards 2025, where a new trailer gave players their first look at the world and tone of the game. Set in Rivellon, the trailer paints a grim picture of a land in pain, with silent gods and growing chaos, but it also hints at new powers and fresh beginnings.
The studio behind Baldur’s Gate 3 describes Divinity as its most ambitious project to date. According to Larian, this game is designed to be larger, deeper, and more personal than anything they have created before. While the setting will feel familiar to long-time fans, the game is fully welcoming to new players. You do not need to play the earlier Divinity games to understand or enjoy this new chapter.

Players who have experience with Original Sin and Original Sin 2 will notice stronger connections to the world and its history. However, the developers have made it clear that Divinity is a fresh starting point, built to stand on its own while respecting the past.

Swen Vincke, founder and game director at Larian Studios, shared why this release is so important for the team. He explained that despite years of working within the Divinity universe, this is the first time the studio has created a game simply titled Divinity. He said the team is bringing everything they have learned into one complete vision, aiming for a richer world, deeper choices, and a closer bond between the player and the story.

The reveal trailer does not show gameplay details yet, but its mood, music, and visuals clearly reflect Larian’s passion for storytelling. Fans can expect more information in the future, including gameplay features and release plans.
With this announcement, Divinity has quickly become one of the standout reveals of The Game Awards 2025. It marks a confident next step for Larian Studios and sets high expectations for what could be the studio’s most defining RPG yet.
