Nintendo Switch version of Dispatch censors key scenes and dialogue

Dispatch is out now on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The release followed last month’s Australian eShop listing. Fans were quick to notice something off, major content was censored.

A standout moment is missing. Robert Robertson III, also called Mecha Man and voiced by Aaron Paul, helps Blonde Blazer with a dress. In the original game, there’s a brief wardrobe slip. On Nintendo, it’s gone entirely.

Dispatch Censorship

Cursing has been censored too. Dialogue now includes bleeped-out words, and adult players can’t disable it. Many players have called this frustrating, especially since Nintendo already offers more explicit games on the eShop.

Developer explains

Ad Hoc Studio said each platform has its own rules for content. They worked with Nintendo to meet the requirements but insisted the story and gameplay remain intact. Even so, the difference is obvious for anyone familiar with the original version.

Where to get the full experience

Dispatch won Awards for good reason. If you want the complete experience, other platforms deliver it.

Switch players do get a bonus, though. Switch 2 runs at 1440p and 60fps, while the original Switch version is limited to 720p and 30fps. The upgrade from Switch to Switch 2 is free for owners of the first version.

Censorship aside, Dispatch is still worth playing. But if you care about seeing every scene, another platform is the way to go.
