Cyberpunk 2077 just got another update. Patch 2.3 is live, and it quietly adds VRR (variable refresh rate) support on consoles. The results? A big boost for PS5 Pro owners. According to Digital Foundry, this might be the closest we’ll get to a proper PS5 Pro patch.
CD Projekt RED had said there were “no plans” for a PS5 Pro upgrade. It also said it was done with updates. Then it dropped another one. So, maybe don’t take that “no plans” line too seriously.
PS5 Pro gets the real benefit
With VRR now working, PS5 Pro can unlock framerate. In Performance mode, Cyberpunk 2077 hits 80 to 90 FPS. That’s a solid jump from the old 60 FPS cap. John Linneman from Digital Foundry called it “significantly better”. He says you can feel the difference right away.
Standard PS5 owners aren’t so lucky. VRR support barely changes things. You still hover at 60 FPS in Performance mode. Quality mode stays at 30 FPS. On PS5 Pro, Quality mode with ray tracing now runs at 40 FPS. Not a huge leap, but better.

It’s not a real patch but it’s something
Digital Foundry says there’s still room to improve. Some parts still dip below 60 FPS, even with VRR. Ray tracing could also look better. But for now, PS5 Pro players finally get a real upgrade in Cyberpunk 2077.
No, it’s not the PS5 Pro patch we’ve been waiting for. But it’s the first time the hardware actually shows its power. And if you paid for the upgrade, this is the kind of boost you hoped for.
