The narrative-driven horror shooter Shadow Project is getting a free PC demo on 9th August, and it’s sounding like a must-play for fans of STALKER and Metro.
Built by Orphic Studios, Shadow Project drops you into Soviet territory during the Cold War. Your job? Break in and shut down a top-secret experiment before things spiral. Expect open-ended levels packed with detail, where you can choose to go in loud, sneak through shadows, or find backdoor paths no one else sees.
Shadow Project demo brings one hour of gameplay, full UX, and six OST tracks
The devs say the demo packs around an hour of content and is fully optimised. That means solid UI, proper feedback, and a real taste of the full experience. It also includes six full tracks from the game’s soundtrack, so crank the volume.
Gameplay focuses on survival. You’ll fight with Cold War-era weapons, scavenge for supplies, and use mods to tweak your gear. Ammo’s tight, so every bullet counts. And yes, there are underground tunnels.

The full game was meant to launch in 2025, but it’s now delayed to 2026 with no exact release window. Still, with the demo just around the corner, you won’t have to wait long to get a first taste.
