Cast Out is turning heads already, and there is a good reason for that. This new co-op fantasy game is being made by Twisted Works, a young UK studio formed by developers who previously worked at PlayStation London Studio, Guerrilla Cambridge, and other big names. The team has shared the first big look at the game, and players are already excited to see what this fresh project will offer.
Last week, the game was first revealed. Soon after, more reports started pointing out something interesting. Many fans noticed that Cast Out looks very similar to concept art from a cancelled PlayStation online game that was once in development at London Studio. That original project never made it to release after Sony’s major restructuring in early 2024, which sadly closed several UK teams, including the long-running London Studio. Now, just under two years later, ideas from that cancelled game seem to be finding new life in Cast Out.

According to Eurogamer, the visual link between both projects is hard to miss. The world of Cast Out carries the same mix of fantasy and modern London that London Studio’s cancelled PS5 game was meant to explore. This makes the new title even more exciting, as it brings back a creative idea that many thought was lost forever.

Twisted Works was formed last summer by industry veterans who wanted to keep building the kind of games they loved. Their website shows a strong team made up of people who have worked at Blur Studio, Square Enix London, Disney Interactive Brighton, and Creative Assembly Horsham. With such a group, expectations for Cast Out are naturally high.

So, what is the game actually about? Twisted Works describes Cast Out as a fast co-op action game set in a “twisted, modern London.” The game is fully built around teamwork. There is no solo mode and no single-hero adventure. Instead, players join up with their friends, combine powers, move at high speed, and create controlled chaos. The studio says that Left 4 Dead was one of their core inspirations, especially its focus on true teamwork and replayability.
The game mixes physical magic, super-fast movement, and lots of room for improvisation. Each run will feel different thanks to changing enemy groups, open spaces, and special charms that let players adjust their build and support their team in new ways. The studio also calls London a key part of the experience familiar but changed, and full of fun moments worth sharing.
Twisted Works admits that Cast Out is still early in development. They plan to release the game on PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam. If everything goes smoothly, an early access beta could arrive in early 2027. The team says they want to involve players early so the final game can grow with real community feedback.
For now, Cast Out already looks like a refreshing and energetic project, mixing strong co-op action with a bold fantasy twist on London. With experienced developers behind it and clear passion for the idea, the game has a bright road ahead.
