Activision is playing smart. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be completely free to play from October 9th to October 16th, right when Battlefield 6 launches. It’s a bold move, one that might just pull some eyes away from EA’s big shooter week.
During this free period, you can jump into both Campaign and Multiplayer modes. There’s a lot to chew on here, over 40 Multiplayer maps, all six Zombies maps, and even Directed Mode. You’ll also get to try The Haunting update, which adds fresh maps like Gravity, Rig, and Mothball. And yes, the Haunted Havoc limited-time Zombies mode will be open too.

Still, Black Ops 6 is nearly a year old. Most players who cared have already blasted through its story. The campaign was fine, better than Modern Warfare 3, but not by much. It didn’t quite hit that classic Black Ops energy.
But there’s more to come. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 lands on November 14th, with Treyarch and Raven Software promising the most intense Black Ops story yet. Set in 2035, the world is collapsing under chaos sparked by the events of Black Ops 2 and 6. This time, David Mason and his team are up against an enemy who weaponises fear itself.

Both Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6 will require TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, just like Windows 11 does. If your PC handled BF6’s beta, you’re already good to go for BO7.
October’s shaping up to be one wild month for shooters. Stay tuned.
