Destiny 2 is a week away from launching Renegades, its full-blown Star Wars-style expansion, and Bungie is pushing hard to show why it matters. The studio ran a full live stream, dropped a fresh launch trailer, and unpacked every major feature arriving next week.

The headline addition is the Praxic Blade, Destiny’s closest swing at a lightsabre yet. Alongside it comes a brand-new weapon type: blasters. These run on heat instead of ammo, so players will juggle overheating rather than reloading, giving firefights a different rhythm.

Renegades also brings in the Lawless Frontier, a repeatable activity built around the new Notoriety system. Players rise through three Syndicate groups, the Pikers, Tharsis Reformation, and Totality Division, each offering their own mission paths. You can take on bounty hunts, smuggling routes, sabotage tasks, and even switch on Invasion, a feature that lets another Guardian drop into your run to throw everything off track.
Shortly after launch, on 13 December, Bungie will roll out a new dungeon called Equilibrium. A behind-the-scenes video documentary is already live, giving a look at how the team shaped the expansion.

The real test, though, isn’t the content. It’s whether Renegades can bring players back. Steam concurrency hit its lowest point last month, and the numbers still haven’t climbed. If this expansion struggles, the pressure on Bungie will only grow.
