After days of rumours doing the rounds, Bungie has finally made it official. Marathon now has a locked-in release date, and it is closer than some expected.
The studio confirmed that its extraction shooter will launch on March 5, 2026. The news was shared via social media, shortly after the date leaked online. Alongside the confirmation, Bungie also lifted the lid on pre-orders and the different editions players can choose from.
Marathon – Pre-order Trailer
Marathon is now available to pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Anyone buying early will receive a stack of cosmetic bonuses, including weapon styles, charms, an emblem, and a custom background. There is also a crossover hook for Destiny 2, with exclusive Exotic items thrown in as part of the deal.
At launch, players will be able to pick from three editions. The Standard Edition includes the base game and access to all gameplay updates released over the year. It also comes with the full set of pre-order cosmetics and Destiny 2 rewards.
The Deluxe Edition pushes things further with a Premium Rewards Pass voucher, 200 SILK tokens, and a range of MIDNIGHT DECAY-themed weapon and Runner Shell cosmetics. It is clearly aimed at players planning to stick around long-term.

Then there is the Collector’s Edition. This bundles all digital content with physical items, including a 1/6-scale Thief Runner Shell statue, a WEAVEworm miniature, and other collectibles.
With the date now locked, the real question is whether Marathon can live up to the expectations building around it. March is not far off.
