Now, if you haven’t been following Black Myth: Wukong closely, here’s what you need to know.

Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG steeped in ancient Chinese mythology. It’s inspired by Journey to the West, one of the most iconic works in Chinese literature. You step into the role of “the Destined One,” a mysterious figure tasked with uncovering truths hidden beneath legendary tales and battling through a world brimming with mystery, wonder, and danger.

What sets this one apart? Quite a few things.

You’re dropped into a vast world filled with stunning environments and mythical creatures straight out of classic folklore. Think ancient temples, eerie forests, and magical ruins that feel alive with stories of the past. Every step you take feels like it opens a new chapter in this mythical journey.

Combat isn’t just about swinging a staff and dodging attacks, though that part looks and feels slick. You’ll go head-to-head with all sorts of enemies, from terrifying beasts to skilled warriors, each with their personality and history. And the best part? You can tailor your fighting style with a mix of spells, transformations, magical gear, and abilities that you can swap around to suit the situation, or just to look cool doing it.

But it’s not just a game of battles. There’s real heart in the storytelling, too. Many of the enemies you fight aren’t just there to be defeated — they’ve got stories, emotions, and pasts of their own. The deeper you go, the more you realise this is about more than just fighting monsters. It’s about understanding them.
