BenQ launches ultimate ScreenBar Halo 2 with pro-level lighting, sleek design, and 423% wider backlight

BenQ, a well-known name in monitor lighting, has officially launched its latest monitor light – the ScreenBar Halo 2. Designed especially for professionals, this new model offers stronger eye comfort, a much wider lighting area, and smarter control features, all packed into a clean and modern design.

After four years of development, the ScreenBar Halo 2 arrives with major upgrades. The highlight is its new Tri-zone Backlight Design, which gives 423% more rear light coverage compared to the previous version. This helps reduce the harsh contrast between your monitor and the surrounding area, lowering eye strain during long work sessions.

At the front, it features BenQ’s ASYM-Light optical design. With an 18° cut-off angle, the light avoids screen glare and doesn’t shine directly into your eyes — offering a more focused and comfortable viewing experience.

This lighting upgrade is backed by research from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, which found that maintaining a balanced light environment around your screen helps reduce eye fatigue. The ScreenBar Halo 2 follows the ANSI recommended luminance ratio of 3:1 between screen and surroundings to support healthier viewing.

According to JC Pan, Chief Product Designer at BenQ Smart Lighting, “Professionals want precise lighting. That’s why we redesigned the control knob. It’s easier to use, resists fingerprints, and lets you smoothly adjust brightness and colour temperature — from 2700K to 6500K.”

BenQ has also improved the mounting system. Inspired by the gravity-based clamp used in the ScreenBar Pro, the ScreenBar Halo 2 now includes a zinc-alloy clamp that works well with both slim and curved monitors. “It rests gently on the screen instead of clipping on, making it safer for all screen types,” said Judy Yang, Lead Mechanical Engineer.

Other smart features include auto-dimming, auto on/off, and memory functions that remember your preferred settings. The product was co-designed with MINIMAL Design, a studio led by former Nike Global Creative Director Scott Wilson, giving the ScreenBar Halo 2 a modern metallic look that fits well in any professional workspace.

To celebrate the launch, BenQ has started the #ElevatewithHalo campaign. As part of this, 50 free units of the ScreenBar Halo 2 will be given away in selected regions. To enter, users just need to fill out a short questionnaire about their work setup. Winners will be asked to share how the product helps improve their comfort and workflow.
