Battlefield 6 layoffs reportedly hit multiple EA studios despite strong sales

The success of Battlefield 6 has not stopped layoffs from reaching its development teams.

A new report claims EA has cut an unknown number of jobs across several studios involved with the game. Teams said to be affected include DICE, Criterion, and Motive Studio. The publisher has not confirmed how many developers were impacted at the time of writing.

What makes the situation stand out is the timing. Battlefield 6 was one of the biggest AAA releases of 2025. The game sold strongly on both PC and consoles and even topped sales charts in the United States during its launch period.

That level of success usually signals stability. Instead, developers are now dealing with layoffs tied to what EA is reportedly calling a “realignment” across the Battlefield teams.

Battlefield 6 layoffs raise concerns for future updates

The layoffs also arrive during a shaky period for the game’s live support.

Season 2 did not land as smoothly as expected. The update arrived later than planned, as the developers wanted extra time to polish it. Even then, parts of the community were not impressed.

One of the biggest complaints has been map size. Many players feel the new maps are smaller than what older Battlefield games offered.

Series producer Philipp Girette has already acknowledged the feedback and confirmed that larger maps are planned.

Still, with the Battlefield 6 layoffs now affecting the teams behind the game, players are left wondering whether those improvements will arrive as quickly as hoped.
