The game had a rocky start. Missing features, bugs, and design choices split the fanbase, pushing many back to Battlefield 5. Over time, EA rolled out fixes, events, and new content. It never hit blockbuster status, but a loyal community stuck around.

Updates coming for Battlefield 2042

Now, a leak from well-known insider Temporyal suggests a major update is on the way, possibly the last one. The rumour points to new maps, weapons, and more.

The timing is interesting. Battlefield 6’s open beta has exploded on Steam, peaking at over 500,000 concurrent players. Fans are praising its maps, modes, and quality-of-life tweaks ahead of the full launch on 10 October.

EA hasn’t confirmed when the 2042 update will drop. But if the leak is right, it’s expected before Battlefield 6 arrives. For veterans of the game, this could be one final ride before the next battlefield opens.
