Counterplay Games, the team known for Godfall, has teamed up with publisher Fictions to announce Armatus, a fresh third-person roguelite shooter launching in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC.
This time, the action unfolds in a twisted, demon-ridden Paris, where you play as the final supernatural warrior of an ancient order. Your goal is to push through the collapsing city and track down the Sunless Gate, a hidden passage that might be humanity’s last chance at salvation.

Ming Zhang from Counterplay says the team wanted a sharp mix of guns, powers, and close-range melee to shape the game’s frantic combat. Fictions producer Kelsey Hansen describes the moment-to-moment action as fast, fierce, and immediately satisfying.
Every run is a fight for survival
Armatus builds itself around the idea of dying, learning, and returning stronger. You enter each run with a scythe and the firearm of your choice, but the real power comes from the celestial abilities and passive upgrades you unlock along the way. Each death resets the journey, not your skill.

SMGs, shotguns, holy flames, slowed time, Armatus encourages you to experiment until you find the mix that shreds demons fastest. Paris may have fallen, but the Scoured Path still waits. Will you rise high enough to cut through it?
