Arc Raiders just got its January update, version 1.13.0, also called the Headwinds update. On the surface, it’s packed with new content. Look closer, and one change could shake up the game for good.

The update brings a Solo vs Squads matchmaking option. Seven new quests have been added. A bird infestation map condition is live. Players can now send squad invites or join open squads. Characters and enemies also got some balance tweaks.

Arc Raiders introduces a three-strike system to target cheaters

The most important update, though, comes at the very end of the patch notes. Embark Studios is rolling out a new anti-cheat system. It’s a three-strike rule that punishes cheaters more harshly each time they’re caught.

The first strike? A 30-day ban. Second strike? 60 days. Third strike? Permanent account ban. It’s a clear signal: cheating won’t be tolerated.

The system is still being implemented, but the message is obvious. Players who exploit the game now face serious consequences.

Community reaction is mixed. Many players wanted tougher enforcement. Others worry about false bans, claiming they were punished unfairly.

For now, Arc Raiders is drawing a line. Cheating has real consequences, but the system’s success will depend on accuracy. If it works, it could change the way players approach the game for good.
