China’s action RPG scene is heating up, and A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei looks ready to join the big league. Developed by Chengdu Cangmo Information Technology Co., Ltd., the game is part of PlayStation’s China Hero Program. PS5 and PC versions are confirmed, with Steam and Epic Games Store pages already live.
A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei – Official Gameplay Trailer
Unlike other martial arts ARPGs that focus on mythology, this one goes historical. Set during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), it drops players into a crumbling empire on the edge of chaos. Think Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, but with its own dark, layered intrigue.
You play a simple boatman whose life takes a sharp turn after a single incident. Suddenly, he’s thrust into the world of the Jinyiwei, the Imperial Guards, acting as a black-market undercover agent. Your missions come from two sides: official tasks for the Imperial Bureau and secret assignments for shady contacts. It’s a constant balancing act.

Investigation plays a key role. The protagonist has a unique deduction ability that lets you foresee events, interrogate suspects repeatedly, and identify the true culprit quickly. It’s part detective work, part martial arts heroics.
Movement and combat are just as important. Expect to sneak across rooftops, scale walls, and leap between enemies while engaging in martial arts combat that feels fluid and tactical. Developers say the goal is to capture rivalries, friendships, and vendettas of the traditional martial arts world.

There’s no release date yet, but this one already looks like it could stand alongside Black Myth: Wukong and GeniGods: Nezha. Keep an eye on it.
