The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 is no longer moving forward, at least for now.
Take-Two Interactive confirmed in its latest earnings report (February 3) that development has been paused. No new timeline was shared. That usually means one thing: wait and see.
A company spokesperson told Variety the choice was difficult. The focus right now is post-launch support for the main game. Updates, fixes, and extra content clearly come first. Not surprising, but still disappointing for Switch fans.
That said, the Nintendo relationship is not going anywhere. Take-Two says it is still working closely with the platform holder. Games like PGA Tour 2K25 and WWE 2K26 are already planned for Switch 2. More titles are expected later. Just not Borderlands 4 for the moment.

Meanwhile, the game itself keeps moving. Gearbox has outlined fresh content through 2026. Photo Mode is already live. Story updates and new packs are on the way. More additions are expected across the year.
So yes, the Switch 2 delay stings. But the bigger picture has not changed. Borderlands 4 is still expanding, still supported, and still very much in play. For Switch 2 owners though, patience is now part of the deal.
