Cyberpunk 2 gets exciting progress boost as development speeds up

CD Projekt Red seems to be moving full speed ahead with the development of Cyberpunk 2. The studio has posted 29 new job openings on its official careers site, covering a wide mix of roles. These include technical positions such as Lead Gameplay Programmer, as well as creative jobs like VFX Artist, UI Artist, Concept Artist, and writing and production roles. This number of new listings is similar to what the studio opened for The Witcher 4, a game that has already been shown publicly, which suggests things are picking up for Cyberpunk 2 too.

As we previously covered, pre-production for Cyberpunk 2 began in June 2025. While CDPR has not shared an official update, the variety of roles now being hired strongly suggests that the project has passed the pre-production stage. This means the main story ideas, gameplay plans, and overall direction are most likely set, and the team is now moving deeper into full development.

One of the most interesting job listings is for a network engineer. This hints that Cyberpunk 2 may include some kind of online multiplayer mode. Several job posts also mention experience with Unreal Engine 5 and procedural generation. This points to two major things: the game is being built on Unreal Engine 5, and procedural systems may be used for world design, progression, or possibly multiplayer content.

Cyberpunk 2 still has no official reveal or trailer, but these new details show that the project is growing fast. With a large team being assembled and advanced tools like Unreal Engine 5 in use, it looks like CDPR is aiming to deliver a more polished and ambitious experience this time.
