Greedfall 2 is struggling. Developer Spiders has laid off most of its animation and rigging team.
Lead animator Erwan Perrin shared the news on LinkedIn, he wrote:
Spiders Games will proceed with a layoff plan and sadly most of the Animation and Rig team will be affected,”
The layoffs hit as the studio tries to recover from a failed launch. Greedfall 2: The Dying World dropped into early access with barely a whisper. Its peak on Steam? Just 375 players. Yesterday? Only 10.

Reviews are rough. The overall rating is 55%. Recent reviews are worse, just 40%.
The biggest complaint is the combat. Spiders dropped the real-time action of the first game. The sequel uses tab-targeting, like Dragon Age: Origins or old-school MMOs. Most players hate it.

Spiders tried patching animations and sounds. But the core combat stayed the same slow and outdated.
The first Greedfall had promise. It was fun, fresh, and full of style. The sequel hasn’t lived up to it.
Now, most of the animation team is out of work. And the game is barely hanging on.
