The Last of Us Part II Remastered just got a big update. You can now play the full story in chronological order. The update is free and out now on PS5, Steam, and Epic Games Store.

Chronological order in The Last of Us world

The game’s original story jumps between timelines. Now, with the new Chronological mode, events happen in order. This changes how scenes connect. For example, Ellie gets her guitar and learns to play it right after. You’ll also see how close Ellie and Abby get to meeting, and how their actions affect each other.

The devs say it took a lot of effort. The story was carefully built to jump around. But this new view lets fans see things in a fresh way. It’s made for people who’ve played the game before.

Unlock rewards with Chronological mode

There are new rewards too. If you finish the story in Chronological mode, you get two new skins for No Return. Joel can wear Nathan Drake’s outfit. Tommy gets Sam Drake’s look. It’s a fun way to mark Naughty Dog’s 40th anniversary.

Not a full change, just an option

The team still recommends first-time players to go through the original story. But for returning fans, this mode adds something new. The update also includes bug fixes and performance boosts.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is available now on PS5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
