Hotel Barcelona, a new horror-action game by Swery and Suda51, launches this September. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam.
The game is developed by White Owls, with direction from Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro (Deadly Premonition) and Goichi “Suda51” Suda (No More Heroes).
The game is a 2.5D side-scrolling slasher with roguelite elements. You play as Justine, a rookie federal marshal sent to a mysterious hotel on the border of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The hotel looks luxurious but is secretly a trap made for the country’s deadliest serial killers.
Killers, phantoms, and brutal zones
Justine isn’t alone in her mind. She’s connected to Dr. Carnival, a mad serial killer with a violent past. Together, they must eliminate the Seven Slash Killers and survive long enough to escape.
The hotel has seven areas, each based on different horror styles like haunted mansions or twisted labs. Each zone ends with a deadly boss fight. When Justine dies, a memory of her past run returns as a Slasher Phantom.
These echoes copy your previous moves and can damage enemies. They can also act as shields or distractions, giving you an edge after every failure.

Multiplayer and Hotel Barcelona demo details
The game supports co-op multiplayer for up to three players. You can team up to take on missions and fight side by side. A PvP mode is also included. A fourth player can invade your game, turning it into a deadly chase.
Hotel Barcelona will be playable at BitSummit XIII from July 18 to 20 in Kyoto, Japan. Visitors can try the opening section and fight the first boss, Jacob, a serial killer with a baseball obsession.

Hotel Barcelona is packed with horror, action, and strange twists. It’s one to watch when September rolls around.
