Cats Away is heading west. Nicalis has announced that the naval tower offense game will release digitally on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on 10 July.

Originally launched in Japan as Buccanyar in April 2023, this version marks the first official release for PS5. While the Japanese version included English text, this Western release brings the game to a new platform and audience.

In Cats Away, you manage a sailing ship full of cats. Your job is to steer the ship during battles, give commands, and outsmart your enemies. Between fights, you’ll dock at ports to upgrade your gear, meet new characters, and take on side quests.

What makes Cats Away stand out

You play as three sisters, Kanna, Lilia, and Alicia. Each one has different skills, and who you choose as captain changes what commands are available in battle.

The ship’s crew includes 60 types of cats. Some handle weapons. Others repair, heal, or control remote units. Each cat breed has a role, and using them well is key to winning fights.

The story includes pirate guilds, a cat-hating syndicate, magical spells, and giant sea monsters. There’s lots to explore, from hidden routes to mysterious ports.

Cats Away is developed by Studio Saizensen and SUCCESS Corporation. It blends action, strategy, and RPG elements with a cute but adventurous vibe.
