Brutal Painkiller drops October 9 with co-op and offline play

3D Realms and Anshar Studios have announced the return of Painkiller. This is not just a remake. It’s a full reimagining of the classic shooter. The game will launch on 9 October for PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam. Digital pre-orders are now live.

The new Painkiller features fast-paced combat and co-op for up to three players. You can also play solo. Offline mode is fully supported. You play as a Champion in Purgatory. Your mission is to stop Azazel, a fallen angel. He plans to send his demons to Earth. To stop him, you must fight through brutal battles and giant bosses.

Painkiller brings new editions with skins and DLC

Standard Edition – $39.99 (around £31.50)
Includes the “Iron Crusade” skin pack for pre-orders. This adds skins for four characters, Ink, Void, Sol, and Roch, and six weapons. Physical console copies also include the “Burnished Pride” pack, which adds gold skins for those six weapons.

Deluxe Edition – $49.99 (around £39.30)
Includes everything in the Standard Edition. Also adds three post-launch DLCs. Each DLC gives more weapons and character skins.

About Game

Painkiller is set in Purgatory. You are a sinner offered a second chance. The Voice of the Creator gives you a mission: defeat Azazel and earn redemption. You’ll face hordes of demons and three Nephilim bosses.

Choose one of four Champions. Each has a unique playstyle. Use weapons old and new. Jump, dash, and hook through detailed gothic environments. Collect tarot cards to boost your powers. Combine them with co-op skills to destroy enemies faster.
