Mafia: The Old Country celebrates exciting milestone before August release

Mafia: The Old Country has officially gone gold. The news comes ahead of its full release on August 8, 2025. Developer Hangar 13 shared a short video on the official Mafia X account confirming the milestone.

This means the main development is done. The team is now focused on polishing and final fixes before launch.

The game is a prequel and marks the first new title since 2016. Since then, we’ve only had a remake of the original and remasters of II and III.

Hangar 13 says this will be “the best-looking Mafia game” yet. They’ve teamed up with Stormind Games in Italy to make the experience feel real and grounded.

“This needs to feel authentic,” said Salvo Fallica, senior project manager at Stormind. Matthew Aitken, lead writer at Hangar 13, added, “Details are key to keeping the player immersed.”

We’ve seen gameplay clips and developer updates. The team has put in a lot of effort on this one.

The Old Country launches in August. We’ll soon know if this return lives up to the series’ name.
